Buffalo Bills Man Cave Ready for Playoff Run
When Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed in the January 2, 2023, game versus the Cincinatti Bengals, all football fans held their breath hoping and praying for the player’s good health. As seconds stretched into minutes and minutes into hours, the nation didn’t know whether it just watched a professional athlete pass away on their televisions. Fortunately, medical personnel acted quickly and skillfully to save Hamlin’s life that night.
Since that harrowing evening, the Buffalo Bills became every football fan’s second favorite team. If their team couldn’t win the Super Bowl, fans rallied behind the Western New York franchise. But for Stephen Aitchison, the Bills have always been his first favorite team, and he has the man cave to prove it.
“I became a Bills fan because of my dad,” Aitchison said. “We found the time to watch the games together, I enjoyed the time with him so much. We watched every week until he passed away in 2018. I fell in love with the Bills in the times watching with him. Now, I cheer them on win or lose. I love the Bills.”
He certainly has the perfect spot for cheering on his favorite team even if he prefers going to Highmark Stadium or hanging out with friends during the games. His Buffalo Bills man cave has plenty of autographed jerseys, signed photos, and other team swag to delight any Bills Mafia member.
Building a man cave is not an overnight task. When it comes to creating your man cave, Aitchison has some advice for you: “Do not by any means try to get everything at once. This man cave took quite a few years of buying items and then continuing to add to it as time goes on.”
Bills fans are known for their propensities to brave the frigid cold to tailgate and to jump through folding tables like professional wrestlers. But you won’t see Aitchison ruining any tables unless his team wins the championship for the first time in franchise history.
“When it comes to jumping through tables, I may have done that 12 to 15 years ago, but now my body wouldn’t like that very much, and neither would my wife,” he said. “So I just laugh at and with the people who do it. However when the Bills win a Super Bowl, I will gladly jump through one. I’ll ask my wife for forgiveness later, and take some ibuprofen to recover.”
His man cave desk is one table he doesn’t want to plunge through. Here he films and edits content for his YouTube channel where he posts game reactions, team power rankings, and individual player rankings. He refers to himself as the Bills Car Guy, and its easy to see why when you see a photo of his vehicle.
Despite the optimism about this year’s squad, Bills fans have managed their expectations since the four Super Bowl losses in the early 1990s. Once bitten, twice shy. But the Bills take that to another level. Still, Aitchison is hopeful.
“My expectations for the Bills going into the playoffs are win the whole thing,” he said. “This city needs it; it has been through so much. But now, I hope they win it for Damar Hamlin. To be completely honest, as badly as I wanted them to win it all, I now am just thankful Damar is doing better. But I still hope they win it all in the end.”
It’s been a wild year in the National Football League. But what year isn’t!? Capping it off with a Bills win would be a fairly tale ending. Football fans across the globe certainly hope Aitchison adds some Super Bowl memoribilia to his Buffalo Bills man cave in the near future.
